well i blasted right over it first pass lol! it's REALLY deep down in that valley! watching again i was 20kts too fast at touchdown.. i will be prepared next time and approach from the valley south west .might practice a couple in the Lear 35 first. It's messed up my Tibet tour because if I take that as legit landing then i have to take off from there!! I am always learning from making flights like this! i was pretty mad i ran off runway so took off again via a valley dive and did the stall and engines off in other videos out of disgust with myself. amazingly both of those were successful so i diverted to VNSK in the end. I think you landed there? hmm

@@florida4life doing these kind of crazy approaches might seem silly, but it’s great practice! I landed successfully at VNJL and then attempted VNJS (which was a mess!)

@@captainpiett765 thanks mate! I think it is a compliment to the realism that I appear genuinely shocked and awed during lightning strikes... I recall flying straight into a dirty black cloud during climb out and feeling REAL apprehension ✈️☁️😳.

@@captainpiett765 yes I'm a cynical old geezer but I still love beauty, wonder and pleasant surprises in all their forms. I use a powerful sound card and headphones though, so remember everything is loud AND realistic so lightning makes you jump! It was terrible on that landing after a smooth flight. Now it seems entirely random. I've shot 3 videos since then but haven't uploaded any yet as they need editing to take out the stutters. OR upload another video with the problem on display and apologize. I still think we are being treated as guinea pigs in this sim ready for the next (which I won't buy from seeing the trailer). I just want smooth and accurate flight simulation. All the fancy eye candy is no use if it can't perform consistently well. Thanks for your detailed reply, much appreciated!

Did you own the Connie in fsx by a2a? That had a fully working engineer station you could control yourself or automate. I agree that won't happen in msfs. Their target audience doesn't want more work they want less. Only planes with big ugly TV screens and do it all autopilots. I just installed fsx again actually. I finally got fed up with asobe telling me what I was ALLOWED to enjoy doing.

@@florida4life I was never able to enjoy FSX because Microsoft was not there to help with new installs. I did have it installed at one point, but when I went to install the accelerator, that made FSX crash. I could not get an authentication for the accelerator. So I just gave up trying. THANKS MICROSOFT!!! I had a Connie in fs9 that I felt was pretty good. I only had FSX up and running for about 2 days.

@@williambarnes8951 I installed fsx again last week but I can't get it stable again. And I'm an ex IT manager! I'm not impressed by a single addition to the next sim in trailers. I just want to fly day or night, with good looking scenery and accurate aircraft. Gimmicks come and go but quality is for life in my opinion.

@@florida4life I believe Asobo's policy IS to half ass and dumb down everything they build, so that they can SELL that many more products. Asking them to do better, does not seem to be in the cards.

I disabled every single default ac after trying each for a flight. I liked the look of most of them but the beauty is only skin deep. I can't.. I just CAN'T use mediocrity when so many great addons out there. Except... No working weather radar in a sim in 2024?! Absolutely horrid night lighting? I used to love ifr night flights now it's depressing. A hemi airboat? You don't mean hemi as in dodge /jeep engine do you? I own a 5.7 lol

@@florida4life I prefer to do most of my flights at around noon. I am so disgusted with the more than 100 night enhanced offerings in the marketplace. What is with Asobo half assing the city lights at night? Yeah!! I would really like an airboat with a 426 HEMI, racing across the everglades!! OR down the colorado river, in the Grand Canyon!!

@@eirbus08 IKR. I posted the entire flight link in description and was smooth as hell. Previous flight in Lear low flying (1500ft) over 6 or 7 airports also flawless. You get in real good mood , come to land to end a great flight then WTF.....bad taste in mouth :/

Hey I'll be honest and say I've only used DX12 from the beginning with my new system. It's always looked great. Occasionally I get double textures on runways and missing tiles but so rare it does not bother me. Like it or not DX12 will be forced upon us one day, I prefer to learn how to use it now and report any bugs too. a great discussion here on Avsim www.avsim.com/forums/topic/632453-performance-on-dx11-vs-12/ If you're not signed up it's a real friendly and helpful forum to ask questions.

Asobo is pretty shit at optimising games anyways.. Everytime they release a new update which is supposed to "improve" performance they break something else, and they expect us to figure everything out and find solutions.

Hey thanks for the reply man. Much appreciated. I am using auto fps app. Sadly it crashed before this flight. I'm gonna test adelaide again in a week or so with same setup. If it's fine I'll post a short video. If it's not I'll also post a short video lol. Def let u know if it's solved!

As mentioned in description every other flight (500 hours +) has been fine with these settings. I use crappy old 4k tv with 60hz refresh so only need 30fps with fg to lock to 60 and I'm good so I can go ULTRA on most settings as PC not struggling at that output. If I was running on 120//144/240 hz monitor I certainly would NOT use ULTRA! You don't notice most of it anyway. Water I like high and clouds, reflections.

Maybe, but I think its more complex and not quite that. I agree because they HAD to incorporate XBOX and dumb down MSFS / PC to fix the XBOX infrastructure. I remember SU4/5 that literally destroyed PC performance and it never really came back how it was. Additionally they have to make MSFS run perfect on XBOX and PC. The issue with PC is two fold... 1 we dont have multi threading, 2 they have to adapt it for an infinite number of hardware builds, and the main issue of no multi threading and using old coding from FSX really shines through. It is a massively complex game with lots of data and moving parts. If the focus was MSFS - PC we would be in much better shape. They got spread thin trying to fix xbox then pc then xbox and then pc issues. But it is making MS a lot of money through the store since they get a 30% cut. So they want this sim on both platforms. I am happy MIcrosoft decided to make MSFS 2020 but man, It shows that they arent fully focused in one spot.

No, you guys are just uptight and only blame the company. Adobo isn’t responsible for the performance of your pc, your network, your optimizations, and especially how you play the game. Dx12 is still in beta and everybody wants to trust it with their lives. Stop blaming the sand when you broke the glass

@@florida4life I failed to give a solution and you nailed it. I often say complaining online is pointless. Post feedback or bugs through the Zendesk and or the forums. Get involved a bit. Take a few minutes and connect and put your vote in, likely you aren’t the only one thinking or feeling the same. - btw where in Florida are you?! I’m over in TPA where I’m an ATC . 🤓

Was South Daytona for 20 years (Between KDAB and KEVB). Dual citizen but it's hard living in 2 places at once!

FSX seems prehistoric now and THAT ran on one core (by default) . A sim by DEFINITION needs to run multiple tasks at once so you're right it's poor design for sure.(gfx/audio/weather/atc/avionics/flight model/user input etc etc )

Sim has been perfect before and since, think there might be a problem with this airport (I recall after SU15 landed I had to redownload all the regional updates and Australia was one of them. Maybe it was not fully installed?

I'm doing a complete tour of Australia round the coast right now. East Coast perfect even orbx brisbane was smooth! Makes no sense for the sim to struggle in the south though. It's almost desert at this point! Cheers for the comment BTW. My last major build was 2016 i7-6900 and I DID get a faulty chip then. Nightmare when you build your own system and it fails. You always worry you ****ed the build up lol.

Well thanks for the reply. Did you read the description? I deliberately custom built a PC JUST for this sim. Plus I have 30 years in IT support so I do kinda know computers. If you watch the video in description this is SAME flight smooth as butter all the way up to approach then down to 5fps or less from 30/60. I normally use AutoFPS to set 1000 OLOD and it's fine. 300 near the ground. SU15 caused Autofps to die during this flight so settings were locked at 400/100. Easy to keep smooth with my hardware. The sim should not go from smooth to unplayable as soon as you reach a DEFAULT airport. FSHud is set to control FSTL. Below 50 fps planes are removed and below 30 deleted entirely. A few days back BEFORE SU15 I landed and departed YBBN Brisbane OrbX at steady 30/60 fps with these exact settings. I'm not asking too much . Something else is wrong. Autofps really helps for sure. The STUTTER is the issue. Did you see view go BACKWARDS during approach? Also other airports I get 60fps easy but still massive stutter while panning. Runways also have a shimmer. Appreciate comments but "you're doing it wrong" isn't applicable. I don't post an issue unless it IS an issue!

@@florida4life Close to the ground ALWAYS has a bigger impact on performance because you are loading in scenery at a far higher detail (better LODS). That is why you will get better performance at higher altitudes usually. "Did you see view go BACKWARDS during approach? " This is a massive red flag. It is caused be FrameGen. The reason for it is this - Normally (as you probably know) DLSS 3 takes frame 1 and frame 3 and creates frame 2 which it inserts in between. Now, if there is a big gap between frame 1 and frame 3 (because of very low frame rate) it struggles to know what to do with frame 2 so you get this jerky back and forth effect. This is 100% because your main thread is not just maxed out it is totally flooded. " I normally use AutoFPS to set 1000 OLOD and it's fine. 300 near the ground." It's pointless using AutoFPS if you are still setting its low-end TLOD as high as 300. When MSFS was originally released the maximum TLOD was 200 because of the performance impact. It was people who had VERY high-end systems that wanted it higher, so Asobo obliged. Why, when you are on approach and at a low altitude, would you have TLOD still set to 300 when you can't see that far off into the distance anyway? Try 100, or 150 if you have a decent system. "FSHud is set to control FSTL". Not used FSHud but if you are using it as an injector and just using the FSLTL for models then shouldn't you have turned off MSFS Live Real-World Air traffic? Also, I dont think you showed it in the vid but shouldn't Ground Aircraft Density be set to 1 (I use FSLTL as an injector and they recommend that) - FSHUD could be different of course. I also noticed you have capped your bandwidth - is there a reason for this? If you have poor internet then that wont help either. If you "kinda know computers" but you cant see you are crippling your CPU (main thread more specifically) then I really don't know what else to say. Reducing the CPU usage to give it a bit of breathing space is the only way to fix this. Maybe swallow that pride a bit and lower your settings and find the sweet spot for your system and you are a long way off it at the moment. You will also then see the true benefit of what framegen has to offer. Just to balance this and so you don't just think *i* have an attitude - I have been a programmer for over 40 years and even I fk it up sometimes:-) It could also be none of these things and may be something wrong with your build but then you would need to get your system builder to sort that out.

Yes I put dev mode on at the end so you can see what's happening WHEN THINGS ARE BAD. ie in this short video. IT is NOT on in either of the 2 other videos using EXACT same settings as this one but if it was you'd obviously not be seeing any red flags. I've been running this custom build and (again lol) these EXACT same settings for around 500 hours of flying all over the world touring entire south east asia for example. Not ONE SINGLE STUTTER or issue. Frame rate has never been below 20 at busiest airports. Started using AFPS and that improved to 30 (without FG here). Sooo.. 459 PERFECT smooth hours. 5 mins YUK. With diagnostics you START with the problem right? What has changed? Well 2 things: 1) SU15 and 2) Adelaide YPAD. These are the ONLY 2 new variables here. OK 3) if you count AFPS crashing since SU15 but...a) that's SU15 again and b) default settings of 100/400 kick in and these were not a problem before I installed AFPS (400 hours into that 500). NOTE: I'll post my system specs after this. Was using 400/100 (my defaults in MSFS) for 400 hours no issue. I've been increasing the settings by 100 each flight recently no issues UNTIL this landing. Again please see other 2 videos to see how smooth they are. Landings too. We might be confusing OLOD/TLOD here? I increase each until I see an effect then reduce. The PC impresses. ZERO AI anything except very low people count. No ground vehicles at all. I like my airports clean of any spurious traffic. It's capped cos I don't like giving MS apps unlimited access to my internet is all. I have rolling cache OFF (huge improvement) and I find 40mbit to be smooth except new areas loading. Even then we talking only 10fps drop. All settings have been tweaked over 3 months and 500 hours to produce very smooth flying. "These are attitude issues. It is high end hardware custom built for studio video/audio processing using Nvidia studio ref drivers for stability.
